I was lowkey hoping we’d get Gwen’s POV in-wolf ripping her mom to shreds but this is so much better. Marie’s end is so much more nuanced for her character because even though the Dyers are FUCKED there’s still a shred of mother in her that doesn’t want to outlive her children. I like that Gwen still gets to eat her though 🤣 (poor Bianca having to listen to it god 🤢🤢😭)
Crikey, me too. What the hell made me open this as my after-lunch feet-up read? Utter foolishness. (And the bear-trap grip that this story has on me). When I thought we'd got as messy as we could - vom on self. Eugh, I'm off to shower.
Actually, I have a bunch of stuff scattered across the most desperate platforms, but it’s all old material from dead and buried projects.
More than anything, I’d like to open an account on some store to publish new things related to collaborations like this. I ask in an absolutely non-ironic way, since I’m a boomer living out in the alfalfa fields: is Spotify still a decent platform? I’ve seen that many artists have pulled out, for one reason or another. But it seems pretty good to embed stuff into Substack.
I only recently learned about the Spotify controversy, but I know some things from people in the music industry, what they did, and what was their preference when it comes to musician appreciation and payout overall.
People have pulled out of Spotify because politically they support orange pres, and they do not pay artists well for their work. Most people go to SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Apple music. Spotify is good for exposure, and non censorship, there's a decent list for cold wave, dark wave and similar electronica. Recently there has been AI artists on Spotify, and the company has avoided paying musicians well the payout is pretty low. Another controversy, is ICE recruitment ads, pay for play where industry labels pay for placement in playlist ads. I have seen some indie artists come up internationally from Spotify so it really depends on what/where you stand. There is currently a boycott with Spotify, but still 700 mil+ listeners from what I remember. Once you get a base there's always patreon & Bandcamp for community building and income, SoundCloud pro, I heard good things about Tidal royalty, and Quobuz, Deezer. If you're purely electronica based look also into Bleep. Tidal and Quobuz is still pretty indie right now, so to move it around I would tag team with Apple music, if you don't go the Spotify route.
Well, I have to thank you for the third time: now for the time you spent on this analysis. I publish my stuff under the Distrokid label, which gives me access to many stores, including Apple Music, Deezer, and Spotify. I've always hated Spotify for the space it gave to a certain person, but unfortunately, there's nothing to be done about that: it's a trade-off between visibility and using platforms that are scumbags. But in a way, it's always been like this: it's not like Substack are saints either. The point is that around here (Europe), Spotify is the de facto standard for "listening to music." So all things considered, maybe, despite the controversies, it's ok-ish. The royalty issue doesn't really interest me that much; I'd just like to gain a bit of visibility for the things I write, I'm not interested in making money (I'm poor as fuck, but I don't know, I don't think this is a potential source of income for me).
Well, I'm glad I haven't eaten yet this morning. Think I'll put that off until this afternoon (or maybe tomorrow, lol). But for real, this was freaking great. Marie's end was perfect and poor Bianca having to sit through all that! And Gwenwolf is such a great term, lol. I wanted to restack so many parts, but it's hard because they're all spoilers!
This was a beautiful climax. Loved it. So visual. I could imagine everything happening. So engaging I didn't want it to end. Well done on the payoff so good.
This chapter has everything I’ve come to adore about Feverchain so far: a well-done blend of comedy and horror, great payoff (after so much build up, oooh), and cool community collabs! Thank you thank you thank you!
Thank YOU thank YOU thank YOU!!! The feedback I get from readers is incredibly useful and has helped through the whole process! Thank you for trusting me with your time and attention 💚
It’s funny bc I always knew she was gonna do that after figuring out what happened with Pierce and Wade… but yeah. I wanted it to be a bit of a shock (:

Gwen remains somewhat mysterious… and yes. Mustn’t let that fresh meat go to waste 🩷
The POPPING 🤢😂
I saw “there’s a shred of mother in her” and thought it was about Gwen. 🤢😂
Oh there’s more than a shred…
😲😂
Dude this was good! Really good! You had me hooked.
I’m so glad I read this within ten minutes of eating breakfast 🤣
HEED the content warnings 😭
The trick is to listen before breakfast, while caffeinated.

I’m sorry 🩷🩷🩷 now you know how I roll…
Don’t ever change, homie
I can’t 👹
I have a toddler, so, like, the AMOUNT of mess feels pretty normal? But yikes. I’m used to peanut butter.
Take that, "pivotal scene!" Great job!!!!!!
Thanks 😁😁😁
The song is dope btw. Got some dark wave/cold wave vibes from it.
Thank you!!!! I love both genres, surely they enetered in the mix!
It's super good. Do you have more stuff I can listen to somewhere? Would support it.
Oh, thanks!

This was so informative, wow. I use Apple Music, for better and for worse.

Hahaha nooo please eat I’m sorry! Have a steak for me (; thanks for reading, Walt. I appreciate you!
Oh gosh, human matters overload, Dyers out in the most satisfying gruesome fashion, and Didrik's singing???? This chapter has it all 🤯
Yes!!! This chap was a biggie 🩷 @Didrik fucking killed it
It couldnt have happened to nicer people.
😭😭😭👌
ohhhh shiiiiiiiiiit!
I had to read the feverish part like three or four times. The calling to Gwen! Damn! it is a fever chain! they've bonded? imprinted??
ahhhhh that's hot! I love Gwenwolf and how she takes care of Bianca but also the corpse-eating!
i am slightly nauseated but also very excited.
Fucking brilliant writing. And the song by Didrik!!!! I can't listen yet but I am looking forward to this treat!
The song is so fun. Gwen is a good doggy!!!! Always happy when I gross you out 😁 Thank you for reading, I appreciate you!
Ahhh holy shit this was so intense. One night, one family— poof. Ohmygod. So gross and wet and wonderful.
Original FEVERCHAIN song is cool as hell!!
Thank you, Hylia! Poof—indeed. Isn’t the song great???
Holy fucking shit! That was a wild night.
Wild and crazy!!! 🌕
This was a beautiful climax. Loved it. So visual. I could imagine everything happening. So engaging I didn't want it to end. Well done on the payoff so good.

I had to reread that shotgun flip twice. Damn what a surprise.
It’s funny bc I always knew she was gonna do that after figuring out what happened with Pierce and Wade… but yeah. I wanted it to be a bit of a shock (:
A bit is an understatement
Delightfully grim, fantastic work as always.
I love how dog-like werewolf-Gwen is, (getting distracted by the meat), while remaining absolutely terrifying.
Thank you Richard! She’s just a doggy!
Holy bloody hell! This chapter was absolutely NUTS! Amazing!
THANK YOUUUU
