The climax of this chapter was great too, almost enough to make me forget marshmallows aren’t vegan 😂
Gwen appearing after Bianca thinks about the coyotes is a nice modern application of the silly/absurd gothic trick of hinting at a monster’s nature through seemingly unrelated aspects of the scene. Dracula’s children of the night speech is a classic example but my favorite is a guy offering to file Carmilla’s teeth down for her.

This is cracking me up and the Smokey scene gave me literal teenage anxiety. It reminded me of flirting with my high school crush, while my dog took a massive dump. Kind of ruins the moment. Great stuff!
